How do you find the magic bullet?

Everybody keeps looking for the magic bullet. the pill that will cure whatever ails one.  Unfortunately, it appears to be a futile search.  Just watch the TV ads, they have these new medicines they say will help you with your problem and to just tell your doctor that you want to try it.  Then they list the side effects, the one that scares me the most is the one that says that if you feel suicidal, see your doctor.    Of course there are also the ads by the ambulance chasing lawyers saying that if you took such and such medicine, which was last year’s rage, you may be eligible for compensation.  Instead of looking for the right chemical, why not try what Mother Nature provides, nutrition?  I have heard some amazing testimonies from people who tried just eating the foods their bodies needed and  achieved fantastic results.  The human body truly is a phenomenal organism.  To learn more about how nutrition mught help you, go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com

Beware of the pitfalls of GMO’s

Many of our food crops have been genetically modified (GMO) to make them grow faster, bigger, etc.  One of these modifications is herbicide resistance.  The main crop herbicide works by binding to the trace minerals and making them unavailable to the weed.  If the minerals are unavailable to weeds, they are unavailable to the crops, which makes the plant less disease resistant and, more importantly,  less nutritious.  This is also passed on to the animals that eat feeds made from these crops.  For instance, veterinarians have noticed a great increase in reproductive failures in animals fed these crops, mostly corn and soybeans.

Can how you eat help you with Parkinson’s

The human body is an amazing organism that responds in amazing ways to proper nutrition. Your body is constantly regenerating itself and when properly regenerates with good cells. If your body is brought back into balance and properly fed, your immune system is also strengthened. This means that your body is better able to cope with an auto-immune disease. Last night I heard a Parkinson’s sufferer share how her tremors had reduced in both severity and pain level, how balance had improved, the numbness in the foot went away, and was now sleeping better since starting to eat Sunrider foods.

Are you really eating healthy?

In Michael Pollan’s book In Defense of Food, he rails against the notion of “nutritionism,” the idea that we can single out nutrients from whole foods, add them back to processed food, or take them as supplements, and achieve health benefits.
Countering this notion is the foundation of Sunrider foods. Harvest the purest crops and then concentrate and dehydrate them. Reduce 9 pounds of fruits and vegetables to a single pound of powder. The real secret to this process is that the live enzymes are not destroyed, so that one gets the full nutritional value of the foods.

Because they are foods, by eating them, one gets all the vitamins and minerals in the foods. It is impossible to do this with a vitamin pill because the vitamins are chemicals and not foods. This means that the body can only process about 20% of what is ingested and the other 80% goes down the toilet. Not a very wise use of money, either.
Why not not stop wasting your money and start eating the foods that your body can really use? Avoid the marketing ploys of the food industry, which wants to trick us into eating more junk food by putting it in friendlier packaging. Go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com to learn more.

Is surgery the best way to lose weight?

In the latest issue of the AARP Bulletin, there is an article extolling the virtues of bariatric surgery, either gastric bypass or banding. Of course they glossed over the failure rate and the fatality rate; although they did say that in a group of band patients studied over a period of years, almost half had to have the bands removed because of complications. Of four people that I know have tried it, three are as big or bigger than they were before and the 4th died from complications arising from the surgery.

The article states, “. . . .and changes the way the body absorbs nutrients”. How can this be good for you? The body was designed to operate a certain way and changing that system by artificial means is counterproductive. The article talks about the experiences of a typical patient. They have 2 protein shakes every day and have to take vitamin and mineral supplements, of which they only get about 20% of the value anyway. In addition, they have to schedule liquid intake very carefully to make sure the digestive tract absorbs all the nutrients. By eating 2 smoothies every day made from whole foods with live enzymes that have been concentrated and dehydrated, I get all the nutrients I need and save the cost of all those vitamin and mineral supplements and, because they are whole foods with live enzymes, they are absorbed directly and not dependent on my digestive tract. In addition, I drink a gallon of liquid everyday and can eat whatever I choose, obviously avoiding those that are bad for me.

One of the reasons given for having the surgery is, “When dieting fails to work, we need to try something else that does.” We already know why dieting does not work (see previous blogs) but we keep looking for the silver bullet. There is none, but getting the nutrients your body needs does work. As cravings go away, and the body gets into balance, the fat is flushed away and the weight comes down and stays down as long I continue to eat properly and get a little exercise. Remember. “A healthy body does not maintain fat.” To learn more about how to lose weight without having to face surgery go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com

Diabetes becoming more and more expensive

There was an article in the New York Times that talked about in spite of all the new drugs on the market, some of the older drugs were better for treating diabetes both cost wise and side-effect wise.   According to the article, the CDC says that 1 in 10 Americans has Type 2 diabetes and that number is expected to increase to 1 in 3 by the year 2050.  The article went on to state that Type 2 diabetes patients spent $12.5 billion on medicine in 2007, twice as much as 2001 (not including what they also spent on blood pressure and cholesterol medicine).

The article did not address how much of that that was attributable to increased numbers of victims and how much to increased costs of medicines.  There has been a 10% increase in cases since 2007(see my post of 2/2/11).  The thrust of the article was that as newer medicines come on the market, they are not less expensive than current drugs, as hoped.  Rather, the new are more expensive with more side effects while the existing drugs are becoming cheaper because they are more and more getting classified as generics.

What the article overlooks is there is an alternative to this increase in numbers of people affected.  Eat foods that are more healthy for you, eat foods that will strengthen your pancreas so that it functions properly, eat foods that help you lose weight and keep it off, and get more exercise.  To learn you can avoid becoming a part of this three-fold increase in this disease go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com

Asthma on the increase

There was an article in the Atlanta paper stating that last year about 12% of the children in GA had asthma, as compared to 9.6% nationwide.  It also represents an increase from a  10% rate  in 2005.  The article talks about the associated cost increases.  The article also talks about the number of people who can’t afford medicine.

The article says that there is no evidence that air pollution causes asthma but is a significant factor in triggering symptoms.  The article talks about efforts to reduce emissions, keeping kids quiet during the worst parts of  the day, etc.  One thing that I didn’t see mentioned was increasing the strength of the immune system.  They want to treat the triggers not the actual causes, weakened immune systems.  Blame Atlanta traffic and not bad eating habits.

Rather than improve our kids immune systems, we buy more drugs.  Just think how much money could be saved if our kids ate the kinds of foods that strengthened their immune systems instead of buying medicine.  To find out more about how to use nutrition to strengthen your immune system go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com

Beware of early puberty

“Today in the U.S., about 16 percent of girls enter puberty by the age of 7, and about 30 percent by the age of 8. A recent study determined that the number of girls entering puberty (defined by breast development) at these early ages has increased markedly between 1997 and 2010.”  I copied this out of the latest copy of “Organic Connections”.

They attributed  this to increased childhood obesity, increased animal protein intake, high dairy and soft drink consumption, and other dietary considerations. “Overall our modern diet rich in processed foods, dairy, processed meats and fast food is disruptive to normal development and aging. Early puberty is an early sign of premature aging.” This is another quote from the article.

Our children are maturing sexually before they are emotionally mature enough to handle it.  No wonder we have such a problem with teen pregnancy and a decreasing marriage rate.  Our kids cannot equate sex and commitment because sex has become a matter of course to them before they are ready to understand commitment.  The article also pointed out that there is an increased risk of breast cancer.  This is also confirmed in The China Study by T Colin Campbell that showed a definite correlation between early puberty onset and breast cancer rates.

We need to be changing our eating habits and one of the best is with Sunrider foods that nourish,  balance, and cleanse with vegetable based protein.  Go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com

Could your memory loss be attached to your weight?

Obesity subtly diminishes memory and other features of thinking and reasoning even among seemingly healthy people, an international team of scientists reports. At least some of these impairments appear reversible through weight loss. Researchers also report one likely mechanism for those cognitive deficits: damage to the wiring that links the brain’s information-processing regions.

A number of studies in recent years have shown that individuals with diseases linked to obesity, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension and type 2 diabetes, don’t score as well on cognitive tests as less hefty individuals do. In a study conducted at Kent State University researchers recruited 150 individuals weighing an average of 300 pounds for a series of cognitive tests.  Individuals initially performed on the low end of the normal range for healthy individuals.

Tested again 12 weeks after bariatric surgery — when most had shed some 50 pounds — the lighter but still heavy patients scored substantially better.  Study participants who didn’t have surgery — or lose weight — performed worse on the second test.

A healthy body does not maintain weight.  It is therefore essential to nourish , balance, and cleanse the body to get it back into balance.  Once it is balance and nourished properly, it will begin to flush out the toxins and the fat cells and the weight will come off.  All this without the need for expensive and traumatic surgery, which is not always effective, and sometimes even has fatal complications.  Go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com to learn more about nourishing, balancing, and cleansing and a much healthier way to lose weight and improve your memory.

What should pack when I travel?

One of the biggest complaints that travelers express is with stomach problems.  Millions of people contract some diarrheal disease every year.  How can you protect yourself?  You should include probiotics in your suitcase as a source of “good bacteria” for your stomach.  In addition to probiotics I also carry along a special fruit and vegetable rinse to wash anything fresh that I might eat and to render drinking water safe.  Even bottled water in some places is not as pure as we might like and a couple drops of the fruit and vegetable rinse is usually enough to render it safe.

I also carry whole foods with live enzymes that are concentrated and dehydrated that I can rehydrate and eat or drink.  These are absorbed into the blood stream within 15 minutes and so I am getting all the nutrition I need even if my tummy is not a happy camper and not digesting anything I send down there.  I have been to such places as China, Turkey, and Egypt and had no problems with the food.  The worst problem I have had occurred while visiting my nephew in Florida and several of us came down with food poisoning caused by tainted salad dressing.  Between the fruit and veggie rinse and the probiotics all I suffered were a few mild stomach cramps.  To learn more go to www.healthangelsnutrition.com
